So you want to up your protein, but you prefer to eat it rather than drink a shake. Or maybe you’re trying to avoid the vending machine at work and are looking for a healthier, tastier snack. Or… maybe you just came here for the brownies.
Look no further! Our super fit friend Hannah shares with us her recipe for gooey, chewy, protein brownies.
What’s best? Just like in our products, you’ll find no super refined starches and no refined sugars in this recipe. Hannah uses sweet potatoes as a whole food, gluten-free carbohydrate base (if you’re familiar with the Paleo diet, you’ll know all about the benefits of sweet potato – some even consider it a superfood), maple syrup and dates as sweeteners, and of course, some Motion Nutrition Organic Whey for a complete source of protein.
- 2 cooked medium sweet potatoes (in cubes)
- 1 scoop Organic Whey Protein (Hannah used Coconut but you could use Pure or Raw Cacao)
- 4 tbsp raw cacao
- 3 tbsp maple syrup
- Half a banana
- 8 pitted dates
Pre heat the oven to gas mark 4, or 180 Celsius.
In a food processor bowl add the cooked sweet potato, half a banana and the pitted dates. Blitz until nicely combined.
Add the rest of ingredients and blend until smooth. After a minute or two you should have a creamy mixture (tasting isn’t optional – dig in and give it a taste) and this can then be placed in a baking tin (lined with baking paper for easy removal). Place the tin in the middle of the oven and bake for 35 minutes.
Remove the brownies from the oven and leave to cool on the side – letting them cool is very important to ensure they set properly. Don’t be tempted!
You can also add small pieces of chocolate onto the brownies 5 minutes before the end of the baking for an extra chocolate crunch.
Now as hard as this may seem… Remember these protein brownies will taste even better if you can save some for your office snack – and they will make you feel super smug too.
